The PPIGE
In 2005, for the sake of consistency, economy and resource-sharing, the state and region decided to provide the region's governmental and paragovernmental structures with free access to various map databases.
The EPF Nord-Pas de Calais has been designated as project owner of the PPIGE (Public Platform for Geographic Information). This platform for geographic repositories was opened to the public in December 2007 and is mainly accessible through its website (www.ppige-npdc.fr).
It provides citizens with basic information about their environment. Public stakeholders can also access information concerning their territories in formats compatible with their Geographic Information Systems.
The PPIGE is a tool for the popularisation, assimilation and dispersion of spatial data. It is also designed to promote knowledge-sharing and support the work of private partners assisting public bodies to carry out spatial planning policies.
